Here is the Install tips for for Saab (TIS2008-2) for Tech 2Here we goFirst, get your hands on a Tech 2 handset, and cables etc. Make sure you are confident that your serial connections are good.1. You will need a and patch for activation (can be bought for little money or sourced elsewhere)2.
Download and install TIS2000 for GM/NAO. You may be prompted to install the USB key – just follow the steps.
When finished, don’t run the TIS2000 program.3. Download Saab TIS2008-2.
Insert into same physical/virtual CD drive you installed the TIS2000 GM from (drive letter needs to be the same).4. Launch TIS2000 from desktop icon/start menu5. TIS2000 should detect available update (Saab TIS-2008). OK this and let it run.6.
If you haven’t installed the USB key and patch do this now.7. Launch TIS2000 and click on SPS or security access to ensure it works8. Enjoy!I believe this will allow re-programming of models up to 2008 only, so if you have a later model, you’ll probably need GlobalTIS.If you’ve bought a clone Tech 2 unit I’d recommend throwing away the supplied flat RJ45/ethernet cable and replacing it with a standard ethernet cable (not cross-over) as mine was faulty and caused many headaches! The correct pin-out is provided by the RJ45 to D9 adaptor. For those interested, only pins 4 and 5 on the RJ45 socket are used (TX/RX).IMPORTANT:You may well have a couple of issues getting the software running initially. If your web browser refuses to connect to the TIS2Web service, it’s likely that one of the two GlobalTIS services are not running.
To fix this, open the ‘services’ console either byStartRun and type “services.msc”ORRight-click ‘My Computer” select ‘Manage’ and drill down to the services icon on the left pane. There are two services that should be running and they’ve got obvious names, something like GlobalTIS and TC6 (not near my TIS PC at the moment) and sit next to each other in the services list. In the information pane they should say ‘started’. If not, right-click and select ‘start’. If this fails with an error, try modifying the registry key below. To open registry editor StartRun regedit BE CAREFUL MODIFYING THE REGISTRY – YOU CAN REALLY SCREW YOUR PC UP!!!!!In the left pane, expand the keys until you find the followingHKLMSoftwareApache Software FoundationProcrun2.0Global TISTC6ParametersJavaJvmMxChange the value of this key from 0X0000044 to 0X00000200 and exit the registry. Try to restart the service – you should find it now works.
Don’t ask me why, I got this fix from another forum – fair play to the guy who found it.Hope this helps someone!
You are able to install TIS2000 software of GM Tech2 diagnostic scanner natively on any Windows pro 32-bit operating system. The Tech 2 communicates with the computer using a serial port on the computer running Windows XP SP3. It appears that the issue is that the TIS2000 software has 16 bit setup files and cannot run by default on any 64 bit system.
That’s why many people fail to get it worked on other operating system Vista Win 7/Win 8/Win 8.1 etc.If you have Windows 32bit laptop, the video will help to well install tis2000.If you do not want to, follow this way:The possible solution would be to use a virtual environment on a host computer. VMware is free to use and it has been done from what I read but could be a fairly involved process because of the serial port issue, especially when using a USB to serial adapter. Eltron tlp2742 driver windows 10. The challenge of communicating from the virtual environment through the real computer’s hardware ports can make it difficult but can be done.In some detail, this is what I did. Keep in mind that you should have some computer knowledge and know how to install Windows. And if you do Saab models, do you special Saab TIS2000.
Installed a fresh copy of Windows XP SP3. I didn’t bother with updating anything else as far as security updates to Windows or install a virus scan because this computer will never be connected to the Internet or used for anything else.Install Virtualbox (free software) and run the cracked Windows copy via a virtual machine The method I took to test this was to create a separate partition on my ssd and install it there. When the computer reboots, it will ask you what OS you would like to run. Select Windows XP Pro, then continue installing TIS2000 software. If you’re gonna be writing to the main drive on your computer, I suggest first creating a bootable USB with Clonezilla on it and creating a drive backup with thatallows you to make a complete backup image of your hard drive, and allows you to flash it back to that drive at any time.
Here is the detail instruction on using VMware:Install and use Windows XP Mode in Windows 72. Installed ALL the required drivers until there were no more yellow check marks in Device Manager.3. If you’re using a USB to serial adapter, plug it in now and set it up. Go into “Device Manager” and make note of the COM port used by the adapter.3. Install the Tis2000 software from the CD included with the Tech II scan tool.
During the install, it will ask you to specify the COM port. If you have a serial port on the computer, it’s probably COM 1 or use the one from the USB adapter.4. Before you can use Tis2000 with your Tech2 scanner, you have to make it “think” that there is a dongle connected that authorizes it.
You can download the crack below. Follow the read me file for instructions on how to use it.That’s it.If you need them, here is free:TIS2000 software (Extracted from CD)TIS2000 dongle/USB key crackWarning:You are on your risk. I am not responsible for the damage.Whatever you do, DO NOT USE THE “SOFTWARE DOWNLOAD” BUTTON! This will retrograde the card in your Tech2 to an old version from 2008.Some more install info, especially for VM’s, is also available in this thread from SaabCentral.

THIS WHAT I WROTE ABOUT THE SUBJECT SOME TIME AGO.I'm going to try to give you some hints for the Tech2.First, you can buy whatever Tech2 that you see for sale. It doesn't have to be a Saab OEM one. The only thing that makes it possible to use on a Saab is the PCMCIA memory card that is installed at the top of scanner. So far I have seen GM,Mac tool, SPX/OTC, Saturn,Opel Tech2's. My former boss have a Saab OEM and I bought a Mac tool one.If you only want to use it for 96 and up cars with OBD2 you can use the cable and 16 pin connector that all the different models comes with.If you want to use it on the 95 and older Saab's, you need to buy the 10 pin connector from Kent-Moore tools (which is the tool distributor for Saab)OK, so the next step is, if you find a non Saab Tech 2, that one most likely comes with a GM PCMCIA card. This card cannot be used on a Saab right away because it is loaded with GM cars information. What you can do next is to order a new Tech2 PCMCIA card from Saab eg.
Kent-Moore tools, or if you don't mind erasing the GM information you can update the card that came with the Tech2.Which brings us to the next step, If you buy a new PCMCIA card from Kent-Moore it will have no information for any specific Saab in the card when you get it. The card will only be prepared to accept software to be installed, so you also need to buy a CD from Kent-Moore called TIS 2000. On that CD is the latest software that Saab have come out with and you load that CD onto your PC.
When that is done you hook the Tech2 scanner up to the PC Com 1 or 2 port with the cable that came with the Tech 2 and load the software to the PCMCIA card in the Tech2.Do I have you confused by now?Now to the pricing. My former boss bought his from a Saab dealer and he paid almost $4000.00 for it. Since it was a Saab OEM it came with the 10 and 16 pin connector and the Saab PCMCIA card.I picked up my Mac tool Tech2 at E-bay and paid $1750.00. That one came with the GM card and also a card called 3 in 1 (Chrysler/Ford/GM), plus all the cables needed.I then had to buy the 10 pin connector and a second PCMCIA card (didn't want to erase the GM card) from Kent-Moore, the connector is $80.00 and the PCMCIA card is $400.00.But I also had to buy the TIS 2000 CD with Saab software, since the new card is blank. That CD is $300.00.So, for about $2500.00 did I get a Tech2 that is just as current as 1990- 2002.But several times a year Saab comes out with a new TIS 2000 CD, so it all depends on how current you want to keep your Tech2. The latest version of the software is called 43.000. This is also the last version that still fit on a 10 MB PCMCIA card. Oracle services for microsoft transaction server download. In 2003, Saab and GM went to a 32 MB PCMCIA card, so if you want to be able to read and reset the 2003 and up Saabs and GM products you need to 32 MB and the new TIS 2000 CD that holds the download software for that card.I have also seen the Tech2 for sale from a shop on the East coast called The Tool Warehouse, they sell it for $3500.00 all the time, but it comes with the GM card only. And finally, if you want to be able to flash the new computers that Saab have in the 1999 and up models you need to buy a hardware key from Kent-Moore and plug that one into your PC.
With that key you can update the software program in the ECU of the car. That one cost $230.00.That's it for now.
